Every January 1st, I pick a new meditation to practice every day for the entire year.
I like having this focus, this commitment, because it asks me to show up for my continued work of having a relationship with myself. If I am going to sit with and reflect on my feelings, then I need to be in tune with myself. By having the daily experience of looking at my behavior, I am allowing myself the space to change and grow.
My mind, my body, my Soul… these are all pieces of my identity that make up the whole of who I am. They contain my inner child and my goals; they contain all multitudes. When our individual identities remain isolated from one another, we can sometimes feel scattered within our life. Meditation is a tool to unite these parts.
I invite you to pick a single meditation and practice it once a day, every day, for at least one month. If you’re feeling more ambitious, try practicing it every day for three months or six months; the longer you keep up this daily routine, the more likely it will lead into a natural habit. It can be as simple as three minutes of self-reflection, in your meditation, a day. Not only will this benefit you mentally, but three minutes of meditation will also help your body by lowering blood pressure.
All of my meditations — with instructions and music — are available on my website.
The Sodarshan Chakra Meditation is my chosen daily practice for 2022. If you’re interested in following along, I have two tracks for this meditation available now. As a bonus, there will be a brand new track coming out soon, featuring my son chanting with me — a Yinyang Sodarshan!
